Do you think people take on the same kind of financial debt from attending community college as they do from attending for-profit institutions? Do for-profit institutions serve as launching boards into four year universities?
I went from a community college to an Ivy League university, and I know many others who have done the same. I would love to hear a story of someone moving from a for-profit to a prestigious 4 year institution, because I haven't so far.
Hey I agree. I was just saying if there was anything to compare them to it's a community college. There is no reason in the world to not attend a community college over a for profit. In the end though they both don't have entrance requirements. You clearly are going to have some very smart people who either want to save money or stay close to home do two years at a CC and then transfer on.
Sorry your attempted apologia for for-profit schools is failing, but they are inferior institutions. It is certain that tuition at non-profits is getting out of control, and that's an issue people should be angered about, but the CATO article has nothing to say about the comparatively low rate of graduation or the higher rate of default from for-profit universities. Given that they are enormous libertarian shills who aim t encourage the privatization of virtually everything, such is to be expected.
