Thanks in advance for any advice and/or suggestions you may provide me.

OK, I am currently a junior in college pursuing a bachelor's degree. My AA degree is in psychology and obtaining a BS degree in Organization Security & Management. I have been reading a lot online about getting a government job/career and how it takes awhile (sometimes years) to even get an entry-level position. My ultimate goal is to get some type of national security position at the Department of Homeland Security.

At this point, what are my options?? Internships, jobs, volunteer work, etc. I did signed up for career mentorship program but they advised me it will take a couple weeks before I can be matched up with someone. I would like to get some feedback from people because I don't know where to start or what to do after I get my BS degree. The only other thing that I did look into was the DHS internship program but that's only for after I obtain my degree. I want to get some experience in security so that I can at least say I have that background. Or should I wait until after I get my degree and go to the DHS internship??

I'm sure I forgot to mention something so go ahead and ask me.

Thanks again!

When do you get your BS? Most students do internships while they are in college. Doesn't your school have a program/advisors to help facilitate that?
