Working on a degree and found a course I need at another college. Only problem is that in the fall, they offer 8 week semesters. I thought semesters were only 16 weeks? Has anyone done 8 week semesters? It's an online course if that matters.

I've done it for summer classes but not on line. The class I took met for an hour and a half four days a week. Just expect twice the work.

I'm an adjunct in an off-campus grad program that does 8 week courses so students can gain 6 credits in a typical semester. We meet from 4:15-9:30 once a week for the 8 weeks. It's not ideal, especially for long range assignments, but people like the shortened time frame for the degree.

A lot of online programs have non-traditional semester schedules or 7 or 8 weeks at a time with a week or two between sessions.

Thanks for the comments. I noticed that this school has 3 accounting classes I would LOVE to take. They are 3 credit courses and the school has three 8 week sessions in the fall (I've never seen this type of schedule, either). I suppose it would be insane to take the three classes and stagger their start dates, huh?

What else are you taking? Are you going to JUST take these three classes that run at different times? If so, that's doable but a LOT of work. I wouldn't recommend doing another online class while doing one of these since it's a LOT of work from the people who've done it.

Yeah, I was just going to do those classes that start a few weeks apart. So there would be some overlap. I work f/t, too, but work from home and have a lot of flexibility. I also have a lot of leave if I need it. I guess I should probably get hold of a syllabus so I know what I'm in for.

It would be three accounting classes. I have an accounting background so I'm sure that would help; but these are in different disciplines--international accounting, gov accounting, and non-profit (areas that I'm weak in).

I study at Park University's online program which has semesters which are 8 weeks with two classes at a time. I personally like it b/c I can concentrate on only two classes at a time. It does go at accelerated format since it is only 8 weeks but I find that more motivation to stay on my studies.

Thank you! I think I'm going to go for it. I work well under pressure anyway and I'd rather get the coursework over with asap.
