THIS. There is so much turnover in this industry. People are constantly bouncing from agency to agency, especially in large cities with more agencies and larger accounts. It can be pretty feast or famine at times. You can have a new business pitch, win the account and hire a bunch of people. Or an account can go into review and you don't retain it, and people are let go left and right.

I agree with others. Marketing isn't a stable field--not in any aspect, from sales, to communications, to online marketing, to advertising. Each sector has a high turn over rate, and most these days are freelancing because it's hard to find full time positions in the field without having 3 or more years of experience(thesedays) and to top it off there aren't as many needed permanent full time positions in the field(not since the recession at least). Matter of fact of the friends that I do have that are still in the industry a lot of them are free-lancing or have moved on to other business fields(business management, supply chain, business development, inventory, etc). The ones that are free-lancing are doing what I named earlier--blogging, social media, web design, article/copy-writing, and online advertising.

THIS, is what I needed to know, while I like the idea of marketing and helping out with ads and especially social media, I have NO ONE to help me at all to get ahead or on my feet. I have no family, everyone has passed away and I am still pretty young in comparison. Maybe I should just go for my back up plan(teaching) or be a coach. The head coach in our district makes 77k per year, imagine that. I'll never make fun of another jock ever again lol.
