I'm 3 years out of school. Sometimes they call me and ask if I want to donate money. I generally decline but one time they asked if they want to send me a form in the mail and said "I'll think about it." I get the form and now it says I pledged 5$ but I sure ain't paying that! And I will never.

What's the worst that can happen to me? Are there any legal issues? They don't have any of my card numbers . I know it's only 5$ but it's the principle of it - I paid so much in tuition and overpriced textbooks that no more money should go there from my end.

If you never agreed to it, and they have no written proof you pledged it; I don't see how they can make you pay. Also, they aren't going to do any legal battles over $5.

Wow, you must have good feelings about your alma mater.

It's $5. Tell them to stop calling you, then just get over it.

It's not even possible to sue over $5.

Of all the things to get into a tither about, this is not one of them. Just take the paper and throw it out. End of drama.

Then next time they call don't lie and say that you will "think about it".
Tell them to take you off their mailing and phone lists.
