I want to know how the eucation deductions work I paid most of my college expences with loans I got some grants but mostly loans about 17,800 for the year. I know they won't give me alot of money but some one said I could get $4,000 if I was lucky. I pay for all of my education so my parent's don't claim me on taxes. My mom did last year but that was the last time. My parent's are divorced. I used my dad for my fafsa because my mom is moving out of the country and don't won't to deal with the drama! I'm considered a dependent for fafsa. Both of my parent's have health insurance for me. Can i still get the deductions.
Yes, google education deductions. You can do the lifelong-earners credit or education deduction. The one you use will depend on your individual situation.
