As someone who is both an OT and has horrible handwriting, I'd say don't worry about it. There really is nothing you are going to do to improve it beyond elementary school. You will be writing very slowly, a new way is not going to become automatic for you IMO. I graduated with a 3.92 from a prestigious school with bad handwriting. Just take your time, as long as they can read it you'll be fine. You can also just print, which I do almost exclusively. My essays were all printed, which is still bad, but much more readable than my cursive.
