I guess I'd be outraged at the idea that the massive contingent of international students represented a grave threat to the idea of academic freedom...if I hadn't already long ago suspected that the greatest enemy to such liberty is home grown.

How do the pose a threat? Low quality colleges pose more of a thread to academia than international students.

In many cases, the international students are OFTEN the first contact that American students have with people from other cultures. Back a million years when I was at the university, the university had quite a few students from Lebanon, Libya, and Nigeria. It was an enlightening experience.

Students better get used to working with international students. Most businesses have presence in nations all over the world.
