Do you think life will be better once you graduate (if you get a professional job)? (high school, best)

At Thanksgiving a few of the kids in attendance were Juniors and Seniors in College. When they weren't texting, they were talking about how bored they were with college and tired of studying all the time (7 days a week) They both said that if they get good jobs that life will be so much better for them once they graduate. They will make good money and have their evenings and weekends free.

College student: So do you expect to be working less when you graduate and will life be better your first few years after graduation (assuming you get a professional job connected with your career interests)

Not a college student but for the most part what they say is true--you don't usually have "homework" when you work. Your days are long though and I don't think they realize what working 8+ hours/day, every day feels like either . Sounds like they are just ready to move on to the next phase in their lives.

I'm no longer a college student, but I think it depends on the career. There's a lot of careers where one needs to put in many long hours, especially the first few years when getting established or preparing to move up the ladder.

I "retired" the day I graduated from college.

College just sucked, my worst day at work is better than my best day at college. Getting out of undergrad and into a career was a relief. I did grad school while working full-time in my career job, and that grad school was like a heavy chain around my neck, thank goodness that is done.

I much preferred college. Less structured, more stimulating, and far more social. Work is often rigid, boring, and tedious.

This. Work invades my evenings and weekends far more often than college ever did, and that's on top of the longish regular hours.

Of course, the upside is that now I'm well-compensated for all those hours.

As a Science Major, I'd have to say, yes I DO think my life will be better, especially since I can maybe AFFORD things and start up my hobbies (aquariums, mountain biking, etc) again. I like school and my courses (zoology, geology, physics, chemistry, etc) but it is a lot of work. I am doing it to get a specific job, so I think my life will be a whole lot better when I have that specific job. I don't know about easier, but I think it'll be more enjoyable, especially if I get the position I'm dreaming of.

I try not to dwell on the future though. My life isn't horrendous now, and it could be much worse. That isn't to say it can't be better, but I will appreciate the peace I have in it now.

However, the quote "the easiest day at college is harder than the hardest day at work" is so so so right!

I always considered college (and even high school) as stepping stones to making a lot of $$$$ in the future.

That's simply how I planned out my life and set my goals.

I spent 3 years after highschool working on an assembly line 12 hours a day. Going back to college was like a kick in the balls because I can't just finish the day, go home and relax. I have every expectation that going back into the work force is going to be a huge lifestyle improvement for me. Graduating in may, BS in computer engineering.
