I want to leave the University because the grad program is rather dull. Professors aren't all that good. I get a very bad attitude from a select few of the students. The rest of the students are mega-competitive, so it is hard to form "real friends". I also hear on a semester basis that getting a degree in this field is pretty much useless. I hear that even with a masters you will have only some edge over other applicants in the field but you start off with pretty much equal pay. It just negative news all around. One of my professors is currently upset with me for not getting along with a classmate, I've been given the boot from his class and it has gone to the dean. I'm unsure as to what to do from here on out. It is a reputable University but I was sadly taken aback by its lack of quality and substance and lack of commradre. Also my roommate stole from me just recently. I am pretty much drained because of it. Well I hope to just stop going to classes or finish off class then leave. All this turmoil just doesn't seem worth it. Your thoughts or help? No criticism I feel bad already.
I just withdrew when I left a grad program in mid-semester. It wasn't that big a deal. I had to go teacher to teacher to sign the withdrawal slip I think. I can't remember. I started at the main office. This was a long time ago. If you just stop going to class and don't withdraw you end up with F's instead of W's.
and that is a problem? If you stop going to school I guess it doesn't matter if you get Fs??
Why did u withdrawl.

It does matter. if you ever decide to take classes somewhere else at any time in your future (never say never) you have to provide transcripts. Some jobs want to see all your transcripts. You don't want a row of F's sitting there. Just go through the motions and withdraw the right way. Why wouldn't you just do it the right way?
I quit for a lot of reasons. Money issues, logistics issues, losing interest, tired of always having homework hanging over my head, and early on I had an internship in the field where I learned "how bacon was made" in the field and it was horribly disturbing (later turned into huge court cases and congressional hearings which I attended as a witness).

I'd say withdraw formally or complete the course, you really wouldn't want to rehash the above reasons to explain a failed semester.
