I live in Hampton Roads right now but am looking to attend school in either Richmond or the D.C. area next year (preferrably DC). I'm completing my IT associates right now and am looking to go to school for my Bachelors in either Web Development or Graphic Design (career switch). I haven't decided yet.

My question is, which school is better for this program? Strayer or the Art Institute of D.C.?

I know Strayer is expensive and the for-profit aspect scares me a little. But I'm afraid I can't compete with the Art Institute. It's name intimidates me for some reason.

Anyway, any advice and information on these schools would be greatly appreciated!

i would avoid both. I'm a former HR boy myself in community college in NoVA and i have made it a point to not go to any school that i see while Maury or Steve Wilkos is on and guess when i see these two schools advertised? Right. I know that HR and Richmond and DC have great universities. Trust me a degree from ODU, GMU, or VCU is more solid than a degree from Strayer U/Art Institute.

As both Strayer and the Art Institute are both "national" schools in a sense, I'm thinking you could get more responses over in the Education Forum. I'm going to move it there.

Both are poor choices for schools- check out a lot of the forums out there talking about how they try to get more money out of their students all the time. What you pay to go to either of those schools you could attend an Ivy League school. Those two choices do not have a good reputation

Have you looked into Full Sail? Graphic Design School and Graphic Design Courses at Full Sail

I went to Southeast Technical Institute for Graphic Design and was not happy at all. Even into the second semester we were just having classes about how to make a link and turn on the computer. What a joke

Anyway, now I am going online at Penn Foster and that school is teaching me far more that I was ever being taught at SETI. And for far cheaper.

I will then look into transferring my ACE certified classes to a local college once I move in late April- or I may continue with Penn Foster as I really do love the progam
