i'm about finished with my first year in college. i'm going towards an A.A.S in bus mgmt/finance. how much opportunity can i expect with just an associates degree? i'll likely be relocating around the time i finish my associate's degree and will need probably another 2 yrs for a bach. degree. how much salary can i expect on a 2-yr degree and will this depend on the area i'm living in?

Hello~

If you are in school full time, take a couple of core courses and a couple of electives that pertain to your degree. The courses will be more demanding as you progress each year up, so have a schedule that you can manage and focus on keeping your GPA high. Having an AA prepares you in many ways to manage the courses that you take in your junior and senior year. The salary that you will make will depend on many factors. I would advise you to visit the career center at your college and find what your real interests are and in what areas of business these interests and talents will be most suited. Be patient and persevere! Best Wishes!

Don't expect much with an Associates. You need a 4 year degree for starters. As for salary - it all depends where you are and the job.

I'd say it's just a starting point.

It might help you get an internship with a good firm, but you'll have to go further if you want to get any respect in the working world. Don't sell yourself short. Get your BA at the very least.

Definitely plan on getting your bachelors at some point. Everyone company wants their employees to have one. But the rub is, companies don't necessarily want to pay more for someone that has one. And sometimes the job description doesn't even include many tasks that would require a bachelors degree. But the companies want it anyway, because they can.

But that said you can definitely go into office administration or something like that. See if you can get into a company, then let them pay for your classes to get your Bachelors degree.

You might want to look into what courses from an assoc of applied science degree will transfer to the college you're interested in attending. Talk to a transfer counselor at the college(s) you're interested in ASAP. Good luck!
