So my husband and I are looking forward to winter (as crazy as that sounds) to snowboard and were wondering if Colorado Springs has their own ski lifts/slopes. I heard it doesnt snow much here in the city but sometimes I think I see slopes on the mountains.. or just power lines... haha Also where could we get the best deals on shopping for snowboard equipments?

Thanks!!!

There was a slope at the Broadmoor at one time. You can still see where. I know of quite a few that have failed here in the state. Just not enough snow to continue. Power lines are not usually cut as wide a path as the fail ski slopes. Can't help you with the shopping, My snowboarder is an electrician in Los Vegas. When he lived here he was a skier. Likes the boarding even more.

Most skiing and boarding is about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours away.

Colorado Ski Country USA - Enter A Higher State

The Broadmoor had two slopes and Pikes Peak actually had some skiing (I learned to ski on Pikes Peak) but they shut down long ago.

Anyhow, the best deals on ski and boarding gear is called Sniagrab (Bargain spelled backward) - I think it's a bi-annual event where they set up last year's equipment and such to get rid of for the new season equipment. It used to be run by Gart Sports but they have been bought out and I don't recall the name of the new owners. I am 95% sure they still have it as I don't ski anymore. When I have time I don't have money, when I have money, I don't have time. Go figure that.

Try Craigslist. There are some great deals on snowboards and boots, especially this time of year.
I like to board at Monarch Pass, but it's about 2&1/2 hour drive. Last year we went only to Loveland. It was pretty nice. But I'm not that good and have no use for 'double diamond' runs at the major resorts anyways.

I talked to some people on snowboard.com and they told me the monarch mt pass is a pretty good deal. I also think craigslist is the best place for getting some great used stuff!

I'm not familiar with that area, but this story definitely interests me. Anyone know how long of a drive this would be from N. Academy? Driving to Woodland Park usually takes us 35 minutes.

I saw that on the noon news. (Channel 13) and I would shocked if it actually happens. I miss having local ski areas.
