I'm looking to have a few families get together for a grill picnic before the school starts. How many picnic tables are there in PL, if at all... and is fishing pretty decent?

Hmm... Will be interesting to see what others reply here, but I personally would not recommend the park around Palmer Lake for a picnic. Its just not that scenic, the lake is not very interesting not sure how fishing is there), not sure how many grills there are, but I am sure there are some. Don't get me wrong as I love the town of Palmer Lake, just not impressed by the lake area. What about somewhere like Fox Run park? I don't think you can fish there, but is very nice, lots of trees, many trails for walking or hiking, many grills and picnic areas.

Thanks, I'll check out Fox Run Park, as well.

Default Grilling

Make sure there is not a burn ban in place. I went to a park and the grills were tagged burn ban no grilling allowed. I don't know if this includes portable gas grills or not but charcoal was not allowed. Nice to know this before loading up the family and arriving at the park.
