We are retired military (enlisted, by the way) and we built in Grey Hawk at Northgate specifically for the school. Our neighbourhood has a strong military presence (officer AND enlisted, Air Force AND Army) but the majority of our neighbours are civilians: dentists, engineers, small business owners, IT professionals, etc. We LOVE our neighbourhood; it's small enough that you recognize most everyone by sight (so we all wave and stop to talk to each other), there are lots of neighbourhood activities (including a monthly Bunco group), tons of kids of all ages, a very active Facebook page and people are just neighbourly, lending things and looking out for each other.

We are thrilled with Discovery Canyon Campus (a relatively new, beautiful D20 Pre-K through 12 International Baccalaureate school) but we love our neighbourhood even more.

There was a big heroin issue at Cheyenne Mt HS and also at some HS in D20 from what I remember. Drug issues do happen in a lot of schools, but when you equate bored kids + money, sometimes that equals drugs much more powerful than just some marijuana.

Doesn't mean that every kid that walks through either school comes out a monster druggie. Not at all.
