My wife and I are debating moving to COS. We love the springs. Not sure when or where, but its future plan for sure.

I am concered about internet speeds. I work out of my home, and am dependant on high speeds.

Currently we run quest, at 7MBps download & 1MBps Upload. It literally makes the internet instant.

What are some general speeds in the Greater COS area? Im hopping for at least 5mbps down.

Hey there-

We get 1.5MBps down and 700kbs up. However, my husband is a software developer and has no trouble with it. He also plays x-box live at night w/ his buddies and they have no trouble. However, Qwest does offer a higher speed, but they don't offer it in our area. I am not sure about Comcast. So, if anybody has comcast then can voice their opinion. Let us know if you have anymore questions. bashep

I work for a shop up in Woodland Park that sells all the internet services up there, and we have 5mbps down and 1mbps up, I'm sure that CS has something similar to that. Qwest tends to have the slower speeds, I would look into comcast for the higher speed.

Default thanks

thanks guys. 1.5mb would kill. i am a designer, and its not too uncommon to be uploading or downloading 500mb+ files. Surfing I wouldnt care, its just the work related files that speed is important.

I don't know how fast mine is, but here is something from my providers website... maybe it will help. I don't know how to determine an actual speed from it, but maybe you can:
"How fast is Kellin Communications?
Downloading a 4 Megabyte file examples : With dial-up approximetly 1/2 hour, with the average DSL connection 10 minutes and with Kellin Communications less than 1/10 of a second."

The info didnt help, but I was able to google Kellin Communications , and they have both 5 & 10mbps in the el paso county area. Very cool. 10mbps would rock.

thanks!

Talking Cable/High Speed Internet

Well the big move is getting closer and we found a place, blindly but its looking good.

I was wondering what service providers are available in the Springs for high speed internet and Cable tv. I was wondering the price range also.

I did a lil searching around but figured this way I could get a direct answer on this website.

Cant wait to move!!! This website has been very helpful!! THANKS!!

We've had this discussion here before. Find it by using the Search this Forum tool with keywords like internet or cable or comcast or speed or satellite or qwest. Cannot search on DSL, too short, must be at least four letters long.

In general, I suggest http://broadbandreports.com . Also, I use Qwest DSL at work and http://CoInfoTech.com (broken link) at home. Both are nice and cost about $30/mo. The latter is geared towards business use, but I like the option of running a server from home.
