Ok, I know it's been a wet summer, but everyday when I look west it looks like rain coming down in the area do Manitou Springs.

I used to love Manitou Springs. I don't know what it's like now though. This was in the 1969-70 when I lived out there. Used to go to the Broadmore and watch the skaters practice.

I'm sure sometimes it is raining, but not every day. Seeing rain from a distance can be deceiving and it could be evaporating before it hits the ground, be a light sprinkle, or could be a heavy rain between you and the actual area so Garden of the Gods is getting rain while Manitou is dry.

That's what happens when you live at the base of a 14,115 foot mountain.

It could be in Woodland Park, or even GMF or Chipeta Park. The storms often get caught up in the foothills, especially WP and Divide but fizzle out before (or if) moving off the mountains into the Springs. Many times it would rain at our house in Divide, or my husband's office in WP, and the Springs was sunny.

I think it has been awhile since it has done much raining anywhere along here except the Peak, but I know it has come lower a few times. Once the monsoons left, they really left. Now I'm hoping for some early mountain snow and looking forward to the fall color and temps!
