Just curious if you guys who aren't up north get lots of religious stuff in the mail? We get lots of invitations to churches, etc. Which is fine, as they are usually clearly a commercial piece of mail, so ez to just toss them. But yesterday I got a piece of FC, hand addressed mail with a return address sticker of an individual.

I opened it thinking it was something from a POA I belong to & it's a bunch of Jehovah's Witness stuff. I live in a brand new hood so for the first year, we got lots of new house mail & catalogs, etc. Do religious orgs go through property records to find new home buyers to send their junk to? It just seemed very odd to me that it was FC handwritten mail. Someone went through the trouble to do that.

Better this than showing up at the door though. Of course they do that too here.

I almost never get anything religious in the mail. Once in a blue moon I find a piece of Jehovah's Witness literature stuff into the door. What is FC?

Never, I am in the downtown area. Occasionally a Jehovah's Witness pamphlet gets left in the door but even that is rare. When I lived up North off of Dublin and Rangewood I don't recall ever getting anything either.

I was going to ask the same question, then figured out that FC means First Class.

Still trying to figure out POA.

Over the years we got a couple such mails from churches, all of which went straight to the recycling bin.

When people file a 'change of address' with the Post Office they send that data to any entity that subscribes to the mail update service -- all the big mailers use the service. It's very useful if you take magazines and have other regular mailers as it saves you have to notify each one. We get tons of catalogs and never have to notify them of the change.

Having recently filed a change of address for our move to AZ we now get stuff from firms we haven't done business with in 20 years or more as well as local firms selling all manner of good and services, etc. I think one or two churches have sent a welcome note. Virtually everything that comes to us in the mail is advertising and goes straight to the bin. We recycle a lot more stuff than we put in the actual trash can.

We've gotten some xmas catalogs now for weeks; Labor Day seems the new kickoff date for the "holiday" season of catalogs mailings. By mid November we'll be getting 2-3 per day and some days 4-6 or even as many as 10 catalogs on one day.

I've gotten a flyer on my car for a nearby church, and them at my door with their creepy JW book, but nothing in the mail that I can recall.

Maybe it's God trying to reach out to you and help you accept Jesus into your heart. He knows you haven't visited the Focus on the Family center yet....

Sorry, FC=first class, POA is property owner's association. They're about the only ones who send me anything hand written, in the mail.

Interesting that most of you don't even get the church invites. We probably get about 1/month of those, but they are usually a postcard type, so obviously junk mail. We do get Jehovah's at the door, but I've never rec'd anything in the mail before from them, esp from someone taking the time & trouble to hand write the envelope, with both my name & my husband's name.

I bet you're right Mike & they subscribe to addy services for those of us in their target zip codes & yeah, now that you mention it, I recently rec'd a mailer from a small company I did biz with in Mpls, about 25 years ago, out of the blue. Now I know why. After the move, we got SOOOO many new catalogs that I didn't even know existed, all targeted to new homeowners, furnishings, etc.

ABCD, you're funny. How did you know I haven't visited Focus LOL?

When we moved into COLO SPGS we got mailings from home alarm companies, and some at the door too, as we were in a newly built neighborhood.

I never get solicitations from churches.

Hell, I'm sure they gave up on me years ago.
