Are there still water contamination issues in Fountain? Are people still drinking bottled water?

Security Water is using water from the Southern Delivery System. I think Widefield and Fountain water have applied filters to remove/address the contaminants and maybe also some Southern Delivery System water. I don't know of anyone still using bottled water exclusively.

This is part of the drawback of normalizing crime data in per capita figures. While the numbers appear high, there are several key factors in understanding the crime stats for the city; 1st, over 30% of crimes occur in only a three zip code area. That makes it fairly easy to avoid. 2nd, the majority of violent crimes in Cos are between people who know each other, not random violence. Again, a situation that can typically be avoided. 3rd, the large military population means that our statistics tend to rank high in assault and rape. In contrast, we tend to be below national averages for murder and robbery. Again, a condition that many of us can avoid, but when all violent crimes are merged together and normalized, it creates a rather unsettling composite number.

Is it a perfect place, no. Unfortunately bad things like this do occur. Fortunately, according to uniform crime statistics, crime in Cos actually peaked in the early 1990 and has been steadily declining ever since. I wouldn't doubt that we are seeing some slight upticks in some rates because of opiod related issues, marijuana, and in the influx of lower income persons, but overall the vast majority of the area is pretty safe.

Southern parts of 80909 and 80915, parts of 80910, 80916, and even the easternmost part of 80906, despite also having some of the most expensive real estate in the city. As mentioned in the gentrification thread, these areas are not wholesale bad, but careful evaluation of areas within them is important before buying or renting. There are some very nice areas within these zip codes too, but crime reports need a quick way to break out the statistics and neighborhood or development names aren't as easy to assigning as a zip code.

Two starter houses but in decent/good condition sold on my street in the past month for under 200k in Security. But also at a price about 50k higher than a few years ago.... We're not talking big houses here, but decent-sized yards, 3 bed/2 ba, etc.
