that's what I want to know: do you drink it?

I just moved here and every other place I've lived I fill a pitcher of tap water, put it in the fridge and leave it without a lid so it can breathe - then I drink it.

I drank it for 11 years and it was about the best tap water I ever tasted. It is mostly snowmelt off of Pikes Peak, it's very clean and it's usually cold all year. The supplier was Colo Spgs Utilities which is the city owned utility that provides gas, electric, water and sewerage services to the main city. If you are looking to buy or rent in COLO SPGS then I recommend that CSU be your utility provider as IMO they are excellent and affordable.

Here is Peoria, AZ the water is yucky. At the tap it has a mineral taste and when I test it with a TDS meter it measures 350-400 PPM for Total Dissolved Solids. Most of us here have a reverse osmosis (RO) water filter system under the kitchen sink which gets the TDS count down to 70 and then the water tastes fine. The EPA recommendation for TDS is 50 PPM, or less. In addition to the RO outlet over the kitchen sink I run the RO water line to the fridge where the water filter in the fridge works to get my water down to 50 PPM. TDS meters can be found on-line for about $30. When I buy distilled water the TDS count is usually just about 5 PPM for TDS.

Most of us here also have a water softening system.

I don't recall anyone in COLO SPGS having an RO or water softening system, though some people on well water might need such things.

Good answer, Mike.

I grew up in Phoenix and became accustomed to the warm, foul tap water. As a kid, I had no alternative.

When I first experienced Colorado Springs water during my interview trip in 1977, I remember that it came out of the tap so cold that it actually hurt my teeth while brushing.

The tap water here is wonderful.

If I ever return to Arizona, I'll make sure to install a RO system. But in the meanwhile, I'll just enjoy the water we have here and be thankful for the all the people who foresaw the need and made our wonderful water system work so well.

I do the same here in Colorado Springs. At certain times of the year, it smells like chlorine. The best water I have had out of the tap is in the Oregon Cascades growing up. The worst? Pretty much anywhere in California.

I did for 25 years...many think it is the best.
But, try this...a week, maybe 2...fill gallons for 25 cents at Natural Grocers...drink only that.
THEN, drink it from the tap or drink restaurant water with no ice to get the full effect.
You won't drink tap here again.

I dunno why I started filling gallons...maybe a friend said to....that was years ago.
My sis just moved here...was used to fresh spring water her hubby filled up in NY...
at the spring itself....she can't drink the CS water...won't even give to her cats.

You can't tell until you drink tasteless water how filled with chlorine it is....ick...for me.
But, I don't drink out of plastic and eat only organic. So...

Without the pesticides, antibiotics, chem fertilizers, (like that spilled causing an ammonia cloud last week) and hormones in my food...
my palette is diff than some! LOL!
Just got my physical results back...I am so healthy!

My mom lived in LV...boiled her water in her tea kettle , cooled it...poured routinely

in glass jars from juices...placed in fridge.
She cut out articles on diff cities' water...the bacteria found
chryptosporidium was a common one...goes to the liver.
Google Milwaukie in the 90s...prob there.

Yes I do. It is good first-use water for the most part. The only time I didn't is when they found a chemical in our water put there by the military accidentally and I had to go to bottled water until they switched our source over to something uncontaminated.
