We have skeeters here in the Front Range, but nothing like we had back in VA. More this year since we've had frequent T-storms many days this summer. Other than that, you will see a lot fewer bugs than coastal/wet regions. Florida is a hundred times worse IMO.

Oh yes it is - I had an uncle living in Florida and it totally creeped me out how many bugs - and big ones, too, that are all over! Here, not so many.

We have bugs - maybe not as bad as other parts of the country, but there are bugs here. I've had an infestation of Boxelder bugs for the past 3 years - really bad though this summer not as bad as last summer.

In my house there are centipedes (ugh), spiders, and bugs I've not been able to identify. Thankfully, the mosquitos aren't bad here ... not like back east or more humid climes.

Colorado is a big state with different weather and plant zones - so that has everything to do with how many and what kind of bugs there are around you. But the mountains more than make up for any bugs that might bother me.

By the way the camel spider was outside of my townhome, nothing inside, but I'm at the foothills in the west of colorado springs. Any ideas about good sprays or antidotes?

Is Lyme's disease a problem in either Denver or CS? Should I be checking for ticks every time after I go hiking? I know it's a big problem back east. Thanks.

Ticks aren't that common in the cities, but if you go up in the hills to cut firewood or something like that you should definitely look for them. I've not known it to be a big problem, but it isn't unheard of either.

Unfortunately, we do have Black Widow spiders, but most people will never see one. They like woodpiles, cobwebbed areas, under rocks, pretty much places they can hide. They will move in to garages and hide when the weather gets cool. We also have the Brown Recluse which is an extremely venemous spider, but I've lived in CO for 37 years and have never seen one. Keep woodpiles away from the house or foundation, clean up leaf piles and cobwebs outside and you should never see one of these spiders.
