Here here... isn't that what anti-discrimination is all about --- NOT discriminating on the basis of color or anything else? I haven't been to a neighborhood yet that felt like its residents would commit random acts of hatred against folks of a particular race or skin color.

The closer to a military base the better. Mixed race marriages are much more common in the military than society in general.

Spoken like a man who has no school age children trying to be accepted in the new school.

That is true, it is easy for Adults to deal with that but not kids, they are easy to hurt permanently. Kids can be very cruel.

News flash: kids can be cruel in any school and in any demographic.

I spent my last three years of high school in a highly-integrated school in Northern Virginia, near DC (Nat'l Geographic even did an entire one-hour doc on that school a few years ago, because it was a supposed model of integration - just google JEB Stuart in Falls Church VA)). How do you think my time went there? I was beaten up by a gang, robbed multiple times, had my car vandalized and burglarized during school hours in the middle of the school parking lot, and was generally despised as a 'rich whitey' for my entire time there.

Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a stronger person for having gone through all of that, and I did forge some especially close friendships because of it, but if you think that you're protecting your children by seeking out a more highly integrated school system for them, then you may be sadly mistaken.

matzo man, obviously you dont read much or get out much. Obama is not ending any racism in this country, though most liberals think he is their secular messiah, Racism happens though we have made great progress, it is still dangerous for Interracial families, minority families and Jewish families in many areas of this country.

maybe not to you but to alot of people
stop drinking the obama cool aid and read a book

True, and it's still dangerous for white folks in many other areas. Matzo's point is that you can't abate the evils of racism and ignorance by simply seeking out more of your own kind to hang with.

Good. So-called 'reverse' racial hatred/violence is not limited to inner cities though... Here are some places I've lived where I was truly physically threatened and/or assaulted at times, due to my skin color ("white"): Northern Virginia (mixed-class suburban area outside of DC); Long Beach, CA (urban area, but I was in the 'college district' and it still happened more than once); Honolulu, Hawaii (yes, an urban area, but not exactly your typical 'hood' - Hawaii is actually one of the worst places for racism against 'whites', in my experience)

BTW: I don't like that term, 'reverse' racism since it implies that racism is otherwise limited to being perpetrated by 'whites' against 'minorities', especially those of 'color'. In fact, I believe those are all bad terms, I only used them for lack of better ones. Racism and prejudice exists everywhere, even between neighbors of different financial status or sports rivals. But one cannot fight ignorance with avoidance.
