So, I'm a 35 yo manufacturing professional, APICS certified, and looking to move to COS. Any particular job leads in the manufacturing sector? Any current employees know of any job openings?

I know it's a beautiful area, and I'd love to relocate there, but I have to find a job first!!

Thanks in advance!

CS is a great place for Manf jobs... too bad some of the great opportunites headed offshore 30 yrs ago.
I much prefer it to DEN, due to access to recreation and EZ traffic / getting around the WHOLE city in <30 min,

Colorado Springs HP was superb manf, and VERY nice location. (We went to GofG for a lunch break bike ride / walk.) There were many 'greats' once upon a time. Some will return! the pendulum is swinging back to USA (but USA is not capable or tooled), so only the few ' in the know ' will be profitably engaged.

,pdf link for CS manf.

A firm called Balseal recently opened a plant here, not sure if they do what you're seeking.

They're in a great location, near very affordable homes in a low-crime, excellent school district.

Thanks for the awesome leads! I'll check them all out, and see what they yield. I've done a make to stock environment, a project environment, and even engineering (thoughi'm not an engineer).

I've spent a few days on COS and a week on CO - and it really jived with me. Is it really all everyone makes it out to be?
I'm fairly young, fit, active and love to be outdoors...plus I hate mowing my lawn...

Didn't work for me, after growing up on a Colorado ranch, I left CO long before age 30 for greener pastures.

They were greener (better pay, less taxes, better career growth)

Colorado is a decent place, and I still keep some investment there (but will not return to live there).

Stick with COS area if you have to stay on the front range (JMHO). Colorado might be a good change for you. Probably a worthwhile move for someone in Manf (Not knowing where you are now, looks like IA). Might look to UT for a smaller population and good recreation (UT comes with it's own issues). Stay out of Metro SLC or Metro DEN.

Many options for you "I'm fairly young, fit, active and love to be outdoors"

Excellent post, StealthRabbit. Your candor is refreshing.

To the OP, I don't know much about manufacturing jobs in the Springs since it's not my field. I know that there used to be a lot more in that line of work than there is now, but that's the case all over the country. I also know the city is being aggressive toward luring manufacturing companies and their jobs into Colorado Springs. It seems to a be plan that's making some progress.

You're "young, fit, active and love to be outdoors." I'm close to the same age as you and I absolutely love living in COS for it's great park system and convenience to unlimited outdoor recreation. The city gets a lot of flak for being very conservative but even as a left-leaning moderate I enjoy the heck out of Colorado Springs.

You have the good sense to find a job before just up and moving out here. Too many folks just show up and expect Colorado Springs to be a walk in the park. That it ain't, the job market in many fields is much more competitive and lower paying than Denver and the northern Front Range. That translates to a more reasonable cost of living, though.

I agree with StealthRabbit, Colorado Springs is the best option along the Front Range of Colorado. Good luck in your job search and I hope you get a chance to move to Colorado Springs.

Yeah, I'm currently in Iowa, and just looking for greener pastures. Not every place is ideal for everyone, but it sure seems like a worthwhile shot for me.
Thanks for the encouragement and leads!

Hogster, a Nevada aerospace firm is bringing about 2000+ jobs, might be something there for you. There's also a possibility that a "space training facility" could move here and bring in a few hundred more jobs.

I work for a large manufacturing company located on Garden of the Gods Road. We always try before buy so if you want to work there first get a contract job through Volt. We are expanding now and replacing retirees so there will be openings soon.
