I am sooo glad I ran into this forum! I was strongly considering CMCS. Thank you for your honest insight. I'm definitely checking into AI as I would love the change of my kids learning French instead of Spanish. I'm in Florida and that ALL I hear!

Default Still looking...

Well.... The school didn't quite work out for my kid, so he's again in a private school where he's doing great. However, I can only do that for so long, so I'm still looking for a public school that would know how to work with him.

Long story short... he's a twice exceptional (2E) kid, so unfortunately not every teacher or school staff is prepared to work with kids like him (generalizing). So, if any of you understands what a 2E kid is like (you either have one or have taught one basically), I would appreciate any inputs...

I'm not giving up! He deserves better!

My son is 2E as well. He'll be starting HS in the fall....we may be moving to CO this summer if I get hired as part of a non-profit teaching program (my interview is tomorrow...wish me luck!) One of the locations we may be placed in is Colorado Springs, so we're also scouting out schools that would be a good fit for him. Keep us posted on your school search!

There are 2 schools being propossed for next year to the District 11 Board.

See add on the Gazzete below:
Vocational, gifted charter schools proposed for D-11 | charter, schools, vocational - Education - Colorado Springs Gazette, CO

One of them is the Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning, a K-5 charter school for the gifted and creative and the other one is the Colorado Springs Vocational Academy for grades 9-11. I'm looking into the AACL since my kid would be going into 2nd grade next year, but they're still goign through the approval process. I'm not too sur eabout the Vocational school, but seems like they will concentrate more on trade professions.

I would suggest contacting Beth Busby. She provides twice exceptional counseling/support for D11 and might be able to point you in the direction of a school that might meet the needs of your child. So far, that district seems to provide the most support for 2E kids, but as I'm sure you already know, it will depend on the specific teacher and staff support at the specific school.

I hope you did great on your interview!

Good luck!
