It all depends on what part of town your talking about. Like any city theres parts that are safe, and parts that are dangerous. Colorado Springs is still in my opinion one of the safest big cities in the US.

The problem with those types of sites, is they calculate the city as a whole. My guess would be that 98% of the crime in COS is within 2% of the city.

Seems safe enough to me. I try not to travel to the sketchy areas, and that seems to be enough.

I have to be in CO Sprs next week for 2 nights and looking at hotwire.com for the hotel. Looks like rates are very good right now. The locations are generally identified as North CO Sprs, South CO Sprs, and CO Sprs Airport - but more good deals in Nouth and South areas right now. Are any of these areas a crime problem? Where should I avoid? Coming from Tennessee so no clue. Thanks.

I think you would be fine in either of those areas - but if you give us some street intersections, we could give you more information. Even the worst area of Springs are not that bad, there are very very few places in the Springs I would worry about walking at night, etc.

When I lived in Colorado Springs 6 years ago it was great and I was never, ever afraid or worried of crime.

Otowi asked for street intersections as I try to find a decent place for a hotel. I am attempting to post a link to a map showing where the Hotwire hotels in North CS are. In case it does not work, I'm basically looking at the area just South of the AFA, either side of I-25 and north of Filmore. Thanks.

The area north of Fillmore is a nice neighborhood overall!
Westminster is pretty far, I'd say 1.5 hours driving.
