I just watched PBS special on John Denver. I have so many ?'s and do not know where to find the answers. Are his children biological? If so which ones? Any other info (actually personal) would be of great interest to me. Can anyone respond/help?

There are all sorts of websites and biographies. All you need to do is google "john denver" and you can read all night about him, his life and his music. I found the following with just a few short minutes of searching:

Children from marriage with Annie Martell; Zachary and Anna Kate (adopted).

Children from marriage with Cassandra Delaney; Jesse Belle.

Every one that loves his great efforts to make the mountains even better, has not hiked on the trails and and the beautiful meadow that he bought, fenced, tacked up private property signs on, so he could have his "Starwood in Aspen" Just another Imported Land rapist. (from someone born and raised in Aspen, and chased out financially by the John Denvers of the world.)
Yeah, all my friends who are longtime Coloradans, are not big fans. When I lived in Jackson, Wy many years ago, he flew into the local airport and went off the runway. He was promptly arrested for FWI(flying while intoxicated).

It is very cool to find this conversation about John Denver and his life and family. I was learning guitar as a ten year old when he started having hits in the late 60s and early 70s. I played his songs over and over and over. I've been married twice and with four children and had not picked up my guitar much over the years until I was diagnosed with brain cancer last year. To help me heal and keep my spirits up I started playing his songs again. Thank you John for all you left to us and for helping me keep living when I could have just given up. Being American Indian and being that my family was in Colorado, South Dakota, Arizona long before Europeans came, I find it difficult to listen to people say John Denver "invaded" Colorado and was not a "Native"...Well, being a "Native"...I find his love for Colorado a gift...His time and money invested to help protect the land is more than any of the so called "Natives" have done...Aspen people have more income and business because of his songs and love for the area...Colorado is a name sung all over the world because of his profound love for this beautiful land...And his fences....Did you know that for several years his life was threatened?...Did you know people tried to break into his home, his property? He didn't start out "fencing" ... he had a wife and children to protect...Colorado has become a famous and great State to visit partly because a person of original European heritage visitied and stayed...His father served our Country, he moved many times and wanted a place he could call "home"...he does not deserve ugly comments....He faced the big Oil Corporations, the thieves that have insidiously sucked the precious resources out of our Mother, our Beloved Earth...Do you think they appreciated his voice...His life was always at risk by the "powers that be"......He was a Knight in Flannel Shirts, Jeans and Cowboy boots, gladly offering his life and love for our precious land...His work continues with Windstar non stop...His words live on...He shared his earnings with all of us...what have you done? Join Windstar...Look Up BioGems and find a cause that pulls you in and all you have to do is write...Make a difference instead of putting down a great American Man...Make your voice count...blessings and Peace

Great post, Dragonfly. I loved John Denver. He was a real hero of a human being. Loved his music, too.
