Plus I notice you live in Illinois where the state fair is in Springfield with a city and region population right around the same as Pueblo with a distance of about 175 miles to Chicago (100 to Denver from Pueblo). Does Chicago try to take the fair there? My guess is no why I say Colorado and Denver is odd in that way.
and It's not like Hutchinson (Kansas State Fair) and Grand Island (Nebraska State Fair) are the most desirable places to visit, but no one tries to get the location changed.

Agreed. Colorado has always been odd in this respect. It's almost like Denver is jelous of Pueblo and everything we have considering we are much smaller then them.

Man you gotta work on your material before you take that act on the road.

The future of the State Fair is based on simple economics, and comparing our state fair to that of Nebraska and Kansas is apples-to-walnuts. Kansas and Nebraska are a) more rural than Colorado, and b) not revenue-constrained by TABOR like Colorado is.

Moving the state fair has nothing to do with envy and everything to do with "if it doesn't stop losing money, it will be defunded and shut down." So the choice is simple - either Pueblo mans up and stops giving the state fair a pittance or it ceases to exist. If it stays in Pueblo and continues to bleed cash I have no qualms whatsoever with it being killed off.

At this point, Pueblo is just grasping at straws to stop the bleeding of money from State Fair. New leadership won't make much of a difference, the geographical location is not ideal no matter how much money is used put this on life support.

The reality is Denver has been trying to get the fair since before 1900. The only thing that changes is the excuse they have to get the fair to moved. I suspect that will continue to be the case in the future and the fair will not move. Now I do not know for certain if Denver is jealous of Pueblo its just a feeling I get but I could be wrong.

Except the comparison is completely valid. Colorado outside of the front range is still largely a rural Agriculture based state just like Kansas and Nebraska the last time I checked!

The only thing they have to be jealous about is the location of the fair. There's no reason the fair can't make money in its current location if the issues are fixed. Even if they move it it's still going to be an inconvenient long drive for most of the people who participate in the 4H aspects. Even Colorado Springs would be a better location than east Denver...

The Nebraska State Fair was located in Lincoln until about 2010. The fairgrounds, which were adjacent to the University of Nebraska were swallowed up by university expansion.

So, yes, the Nebraska State Fair's location has been changed.

As for Kansas, I try not to go there.

But all of those in northern Colorado, the true heart of agriculture in the state, would have better access.

If celebrating agricultural aspects and heritage are the main points of the Fair, the sucker should really be in Greeley.

With the state fair in Greeley, it would attract some people from Wyoming and parts of panhandle Nebraska.
