Hi, first time posting. After my visit to CO, I’m currently thinking of writing a novel that is set there, only, I don’t know which city it should be set in. So many choices…
I only know which aspects I want, could you please help me?
The city must be:
1.) near mountains and lakes
2.) semi-rural, I would like the main character to live in a farm/ranch/etc. but have some friends that aren’t.
3.) There must be many animals...which I'm sure isn't a problem because CO is plentiful.
4.) The population shouldn’t be that big, kinda remote.
5.) It must be max. 1 hour drive to Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake
I’d really appreciate your help. You can just leave the city name and I can go on from there.

Default Writers

Hi shadowxtamer! My family and teachers thought that I would one day be a writer or journalist. (I did "dabble" in proofreading for a few years!) Have you just tried looking at the terrain via Google Earth? From your description, you could probably find a cozy hamlet within the proximity of the areas you mentioned. Google Earth allows you to tilt the perspective and virtually travel the landscape. That would help to give you a feel for what you're looking for, and you could expand on that through city-data.com hard details. Maybe you're looking for personal insight on this site, but you'll probably get more info once you've settled on your location. Lots of friendly folks here who will love to help you out! May I ask, this novel isn't going to be a horror flick in the making, is it?

Look in the foothills West of Fort Collins, heading out to Red Feather Lakes area.
