I dunno, it doesn't seem to far away when Denver will run into the CO SPNGS area, at the rate things are growing....that makes it one big blob of a city - Denver Springs or whatever.....

As you can tell by my screen-name, I'd hate to see any more nature disappear in order to make another big town in CO somewhere.......

I'm just like you with a strong preference for natural settings vs metropolitan areas. Unfotrtunately, some people see nature as wasteland that could better serve humanity ( remember, we are the MASTERS of nature...it says so in the bible! ) by being developed. EG...it could be mined by flattening entire mountains like they do in West Virginia, or plastering it with condos and trophy homes like they've done in places like Aspen and Vail. To these folks, this is the way it should be. Transforming wasteland into productive use, where a relative few profit to the detriment of the many.

Where in the state would it be? Close to where Denver is today? Because that could end up being like a DFW metroplex that I'm not exactly sure I'd enjoy living in even though I do love cities. Probably because in my mind, there should never be a DFW type city in Colorado. It just wouldn't fit in.

And no, it wouldn't "make the Front Range suck that much more," because the Front Range doesn't suck. I like the Front Range the way it is. Love it, in fact. I love that Colorado has only one big metro with a few smaller ones and several little sattelite cities. Almost all concentrated in mainy one area, leaving the rest of the state largely beautiful, rural country to get away from the city with. Perfect. Would you rather see the Front Range's population spread evenly around the state, or concentrated on the Front Range? Concentrated, exactly.

But anyways, after that little tangent... I like being a part of the prominent city. No to another Denver, please!

Actually to NativeSW, I think Oklahoma City definitely rises above Tulsa in most ways. The only thing Tulsa has on OKC is being nicer and not as truck-stop-like and trashy. But otherwise, OKC is the big dog for the state.

But in our times now, big cities just get bigger and smaller cities either become quasi-suburbs for the bigger cities or they stagnate as many people leave to take advantage of the efficiencies which come from being a larger city in the modern era.
Denver is the central city for northern Colorado. Grand Junction is the central city for the western slope and Pueblo is the central city for southern Colorado.

Actually it would make the front range and Colorado a more world class state with world class amenities like top restaurants, performing arts centers etc.

I do believe that St. Louis and Kansas City drown out the prominence of one another. Tulsa and Oklahoma City have the same effect, as do Charlotte and Raleigh.

Denver seems to be the first thing that comes to mind when I tell people back in Southern California where I live. IMO, Colorado is good with Denver as its only metro. We could use amazing restaurants and more shopping choices though.
Actually it would give the state a lot more revenue to spend especially if the new large city was home to a few multi-national corporation headquarters.

From what I've seen Denver and Colorado Springs are one big city already. Maybe we could call the blob DenCo or SpringDen or something....like the way they hyphenate names back east...like SoHo. Where ever that is.
