If you aren't already networking on a site like Linkedin I would suggest you work your professional contacts there. These days it seems that HR gets so many resumes that it helps to have a colleague put in a good word for you.

Depending on where in Denver you're working (if it's in the southern part of Denver), you could check out Castle Rock. $250K will easily get you a good house down here, and the school district (county-wide) is excellent. I graduated from it last year and my sister is in 8th grade, both of us did / are doing spectacular! The commute, depending on when you have to drive to and from of course, isn't bad at all. My dad lives here and works in southern Denver proper and doesn't mind the commute the least bit.

The scenery here is better than most of metro Denver as well since we're located in hills. We're also very safe. I was once driving home from hanging at a friends house very late at night (early morning), and was stalked by a cop until I turned into my neighborhood. But hey, it gets the job done, I suppose.
