My regret is due to a personal situation, not the town where I am currently living. I moved to Colorado hoping that it would improve my relationship with my husband's family; however, it seems to have made things worse. It's been draining and depressing, and I am about at my wit's end with the entire ordeal. Nonetheless, I have made my bed, so to speak, and I have to make the best of things.

Castle Rock can be very appealing for young families, for many of the reasons I laid out in my previous entry, and I stand behind what I wrote on the other thread.

Got it. By the way, I thought your Castle Rock post was excellent.

And unravel I suppose could technically be a double-negative, but its meaning is to undo, and it's actually a word, whereas irregardless isn't. Regardless or Irregardless? If one says, "I know I'm right irregardless of what you think," then the person actually DOES regard the other's thoughts. Not to run this into the ground, but as a teacher, misspellings and grammar errors jump out at me. Now for your next lesson: Anyone actually know the difference between its and it's? Even Disneyland screwed up this one in a window display showing an open storybook.
I think after being on the road so much, I'm ready to bone something.

It's good to be back in Colorado. Mikefrombackeast is not currently a moderator, but still lurks as one of us.

Wink You might love it

I've lived in Colorado off and on for years, and presently in the process of relocating here more or less permanently. So suppose that answers the question?

As to why, for many of the reasons others have mentioned: overall livability as expressed in less people and traffic, lower real estate prices relative to the coasts, and just a pleasant mesh of so many factors that work well. Not to mention the mountains which are magnificent and reason enough if one drawn to alpine environments.

Of course so many other areas have their respective charms as well. The ocean has a primal force all its own. Even though the evergreen forests always green, true the resplendence of grass and such evident not much beyond May to October; I'm always reminded once again when visiting how very lush the eastern US is.

Possibly the biggest detriment to living here is how desirable it is, thus subsequent growth. Although many areas within the US are experiencing this trend with overall population growth, Colorado may have come to it a bit later in the game and suffered some of the negative results within a shorter period of time.

So the enchantment but also challenge for anyone here, whether native or newly arrived, to not only witness and enjoy so many of the natural wonders which make this such a special place, but also learn to protect in wise stewardship that they live here for.

Interesting post.

I read "enchantment", "primal", "charms", "resplendence", and "stewardship".

Where's my incense?

I like Colorado too.

Default One month - and we LOVE it

I saw this post back when we were considering our move, and we have finally made it. We have been here one month - well about 6 weeks actually and I already feel like I am home. We ended up in Aurora, just to rent and scout out where we are going to permanently settle. It's really nice here, so much better than Vegas. We witnessed a bit of snow (all of a day) a couple of weekends ago and quickly realized that we are not NEARLY prepared for the cold... it was nice of mother nature to give us a bit of a warning though

Already I am amazed at the overall niceness of the people here. I mean seriously driving, in stores, etc - generally the people have been nice and welcoming - even when we say we are from California. I was told before we came that our side of town on Aurora would be a dump and the people of Denver hated Californians - but I guess I was talking to some bitter people - as I have not found this to be the case at all.

It has been an amazing move and even with the cold (I have rheumatoid arthritis, so it is not pleasant at all) I think we will be here for a long time.

This place rocks
