Looks like the Mod should have put up a sticky that said: for posts other than water rights, weather, snow, temperatures, humidity, and altitude.

I'd agree to a previous poster who said don't be scared to move here. When you get cold, put on a coat. Before you know it, you'll acclimate to it a bit.

Thank God that Colorado is the world's most boring place. It gives us more time to sit around and talk about the weather. "Hey, DUDE! How bout that weather, Man!" "Yeah, DUDE! It's totally bizzare, Dude!" http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)

I agree with you, McGowdog, but I would suggest direct messaging the moderator. That's what I had to do to get that thread set up.

You might want to look in the Greeley area. UNC is the hospital there and they are great as far as heart care goes. Had lots of family members flown into there. They have their own flight for life system. Also a town just north of there about 5 miles that I really like is Eaton. I use to live there and everyone raved about how good the school was. It is also a smaller town that may be a little more affordable than say the Denver area.

You might think about Grand Junction.....we have a great regional medical center here St. Mary's Healthcare - Home (http://www.stmarygj.org/default.htm - broken link) .

Weather's great here, lots to do with children, and although housing prices have gone up here compared to where they once were a few years ago, we're still one of the most affordable markets in the state.

Good schools for my three children and suburbia like neighborhoods. Ive heard of orchard mesa in the grand junction area. Pollution is an issue and ive heard that this are experiences Inversions? Anyone with advice?

Along the foothills would probably be your best bet. Anywhere in the mountains it is colder and more snow. Anywhere out on the plains and it is windy and they have more tornado weather.

OK. To be fair, I'm not on here to anger anybody or have a power trip. I'm just joking around. Those of you who have been here for a while, either on CD or here in Colorado, might or might not appreciate my humor.

I'd rather goof up on one of these posts than "out in the real world". This seems to be a pretty good gauge to how my day is going. If people in here hate me, I ought to look at something before I go talk to a co-worker, a family member, a friend, a customer.

I like organization. I want all of the weather topics in one place, all of the real estate concerns in another, crime/drama in another, but that's not very realistic.

To the point, the OP was probably given good advice way back in the beginning and the tread should have died. We tend to linger on with our "opinions", don't we? Guilty as charged. I'm sorry.

Smile Moving to Grand Junction or Fruita

Hi,

I'm new to message boards so I hope I don't offend or mess up. I'm moving to the GJ area in about one-year, or soon as I am through with college. At 55 I am going through a career change (long story=TMI) and the program I'm attending is to be a back office medical assistant. I have about $10,000 saved to buy a small home/condo/mfgd. Would like some feedback on buying a new or almost new manufactured home or small condo (although the HOA fees on some of the low cost condo's are $150 + or -). We didn't have time to look for stick homes...just manufactured homes (new) in Country Living Park in Loma.

The school I attend is supposed to help place me a job in GJ. I notice there is St. Mary's and the VA Hospital. Since I'll be a medical assistant (taking vitals, history of pt. and injections) does anybody have any feedback as far as job availability the this kind of work?

My sister lives in Fruita (she is retired and owns her home free and clear) and loves it there. I spent a week in Fruita in June and although it was hot, there was no humidity and for 2 or 3 months I don't mind hot weather.

Everyone was so friendly. People wave at you while passing their homes or in their cars. Every clerk in the stores we visited went out of their way to help me in making some rather major purchases.

I do worry about the mosquitos (my sister keeps reminding me they have 43 teeth). I and I noticed the river runs through town was "muddy." I'm not complaining. On the contrary, I can't wait to move to a town with barely any traffic, friendly people and downtown GJ is similiar to where I live now...with bands playing in the grassy area in the center of the city. We had some great beer in a micro brewery downtown GJ.

Also looked in Palisades, Loma and Mack...I'm not a city girl so don't mind living in rural areas. I'm a Christian, and attended The Good Shepard Lutheran Church in GJ.

Love the drive up Starbucks...they don't have drive through Starbucks where I live. I was elated.

I was told by several people not to look for a home in Clifton...meth problem...I guess it's in every city. But Clifton is less expensive...just don't want to live in high crime area.

Anyway, sure would like some feedback on moving to the areas described above. Thank you in advance for anybody providing information.

Yea, I have to agree with you--there is just too much talk about the weather. I do not know if it is Colorado, or the times we now live with all the fancy weather reports on TV and the Internet. I do not need all that--I just listen to my joints--my knees always know.

How come all the threads about Colorado have to turn into a weather thread? To be fair, the main concern of the OP was the weather in Colorado, so could we flag any post with "weather", "altitude", "snow", "blizzard", "drought", etc to this sticky so maybe I can learn something new about Colorado? Can we move this post into that sticky and any subsequent ones that discuss last season's or this season's weather? Please!http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p133/mcgowdog/deadhorse.gif (broken link)
Because that is what the original poster was inquiring about DUDE! Did you read it?
