Wddrice130179: My best advice is most anything west of downtown should work fine, close in is good for enjoying the attractions of the city center (pro sports, shopping, shows, etc). Close in areas might be some of the following: Westminster, Berkeley, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Edgewater, Lakewood, etc, and many more. You could go further out from the city towards Golden, Littleton and many more. Just look at the map and let it be your guide.

As far as a strategy, I'd urge you to locate all the Lowe's on a map, see what area they're in, then look up our threads on those areas/cities. It would be especially smart if you also had a map of the existing and growing light rail system that serves the metro area as it will eventually span from in/near Golden all the way east to Denver airport. Point is to find a Lowe's in an area that is walkable to work and/or on a light rail line. It is possible to live car-free in Denver, and we have a thread on that in the Index of Key Threads.

I am moving to Colorado and have found all my work and housing needs via the Internet. If you go on CL and post a "housing wanted" ad describing what you're looking for, you might get a bite from someone who needs a roommate or is renting out a room (renting out a room is cheap and usually includes all utilities. You can get one furnished so you don't even have to purchase much). But check out places like newborhood.com, roommates.com, and maybe even the Denver newspaper classifieds. When you find somewhere that might work, just do you homework on the area and check with people on here before committing to anywhere. I'm going with a month-to-month lease so that if the area is not everything I want, then I can move on and try a new one; might work for you too?

If Lowes can get you a position in Colorado that is at least enough to pay your bills and feed you, then go. You're young and single, go get it and worry about making more money to be comfortable when you get there. If our generation keeps waiting on when we're going to be able to be comfortable on what we make an hour, we'll never do anything.

Good luck!
