Summer 2013 Colorado Weather, Rain, Monsoon, Thunderstorms, Hail, El Nino, La Nina, etc (Pueblo: live, relocation)

Windy conditions will exist today with frequent gusts of 25 to 35 mph this afternoon. Peak gusts of 40 mph will occur at higher valley locations, such as Craig, Hayden, Gunnison, and Durango. Scattered showers over northwest Colorado will gradually diminish today, although an isolated thunderstorm is possible. On Friday, another windy afternoon is on tap. Less wind is expected over the weekend but temperature will be much warmer with desert valleys in the 90s.

Spring time in the Rockies - I love it. I remember trying to get home to Colorado Springs in late May and getting stuck in Vail due to jack-knifed trucks on Vail Pass more than once. Those were the days! Sitting in my old Explorer and drinking a thermos of coffee while listening to the road reports on some local radio station.

It's a nice day in the 4-Corners today. We are under a fire advisory for the next 24 hours, though.

THAT is what I'm talking about when I've said many times in these forums that this sort of weather incident makes it on the evening news back east, making some easterners think the WHOLE state is mountainous and snowy all year.

Good point. I, also, want to add that it seems like its always a blizzard for a national televised football game in Denver.

Even when CSU Pueblo was nationally televised it was snowing in the mountains and at half time it went back to New York who reported the snow in the mountains and said there was snow forecasted in Pueblo during the second half. They had no clue how far the mountains were and that it was in the 50's and not even rain was forecasted.

Heh, I remember all too well the 1984 Packer/Bronco Monday Night game with all the Tom Jackson soundbites! That was mid-October.

The record setter was Labor Day weekend of 1982. Season opener Chargers vs. Broncos. The night before 4 inches of snow fell. The day after the game? High temperature hit 75.

Expect the unexpected-always!

Yesterday was one of those days in my neck of the woods. We had sunshine, wind, rain, rain/snow mix, blowing snow and then sunshine again. Okay, maybe only 3 seasons because it was chilly - not summer temps.
