I just paid $205 for electric/heat combined. The house was built in 2005, 2000 sq. ft. plus 900 sq. ft. of finished basement is heated. From what I remember on the bill, it's about half and half heat and gas for the cost. The Nov. bill was only $115. I expect the next one to be higher with all this cold weather though. Running the A/C 24/7 in the summer is definitely cheaper than heat in the winter.

Yep, heating costs are getting out of control. To heat a well insulated home, with 2,000 sq.ft., it is coming out to $200.00 plus a month for the electric & gas combo.

That is sad. Especially from a state that has natural gas located underneath it, you figure it would be less expensive.

$150 a month for a house that size unfortunately seems unlikely. Our house is about 2,800 Sq ft (including the basement) and we on average pay $200 a month. In the summer it goes to the electric company, and in winter it goes to the gas company. We generally get a break in Spring and Fall, but that's about it.

They might get away with better results than we do if they have a ranch style house, unfortunately for us in the summer (or just days warmer than about 80) we have to run the AC because our 2nd floor gets too warm even with trying to open all the windows. Then in the winter our ground floor is about 68, the top floor is right about 69-70 and the basement is about 64. I'm looking into a whole house fan to see if I can some how get better circulation in the house and try to bring down the cost of energy.
