Looking at moving to steamboat but need advice/suggestions on where to find the cheapest rent. Im a single guy so looking for an apartment, loft, maybe a room in a house to share rent. Want to be close to town, close enough to bike or take a bus downtown. Any suggestions on complexes to look at or websites with good info is appreciated.

The newspaper and craigslist have most of the rental listings. Steamboat Today: Steamboat Springs, Colorado News and Information or craigslist: high rockies classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events

If you are planning on working for the mountain or one of the hotels check into employee housing with them also.

September is a good time to arrive, summer rentals are clearing out, winter job fairs will be starting and you'll still catch the fall colors.

Not in my experience. The town is targeted to the winter tourist season and the rates for that will be set already. Even if you rented in the summer months at a discounted rate, there is usually a provision for the rate to increase for the winter months.

Depends. If you sign a year lease outside of winter season, likely it will be cheaper. If you just want to sign for winter, rates are higher. September is a good month to get settled in and get everything sorted, although work opportunities will be weak until winter.

Wink Earlier than late

I do not know much about Steamboat Springs. But as gauged by Summit County, the suggestion you arrive in early September. There is just that much better chance you'll be on the ground, with some idea of that desired, and ready to move when something comes along. No point contending with others who show up later in the month, or October.

Besides which, fairly much all of September is a lovely time to be in Colorado.

Default Considering move to Steamboat Springs

I am a single mom of 3 children and looking for a change of scenery, looking to get away and start a new life for myself and my children. I am interested if you did move to Steamboat and how you like it? Can anyone tell me about the schools, crime (being single mom and all), is this a huge city or a more small town feel?

Steamboat Springs is a small town ski resort in a fairly remote area of northern Colorado, there are no huge cities near by. It is a very expensive place to live compared to most places in this country. Jobs can be seasonal and hard to find, so it's advisable to have one before moving. You can check craigslist craigslist: high rockies classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events and the newspaper to see what rentals run Steamboat Today: Steamboat Springs, Colorado News and Information

Colorado School Grades will give you school ratings for all schools in Colorado.

edit: Just saw your post on the moving forum, not really sure why you would consider Steamboat, doesn't seem to fit your criteria.
