10 most dangerous places after dark in Colorado (Pueblo, Highlands Ranch: best cities, crimes)

I would think Grand Junction would be higher and I am surprised Montrose isn't on that list.

Pagosa Springs is one of those cities that works for dark skies - they purposefully do not have good night lighting to reduce light pollution so one can see the stars. But that could work against them in terms of property crime, etc., at night.

Hmmm. So, according to the company compiling the data, Vail is #2 most dangerous place on this list, but is something like #5 best place to live on another list they produce? Their data matrix and weighting of those factors would be suspect in my mind.

Pagosa also has many part-time homes (high vacancy—fewer eyes watching out), and the entire commercial area is laid out in a corridor, which makes for easy hits by nonresident criminals.

Looking at the lists put together by Roadsnacks, I can tell that the stats are skewed by the commercial areas’ crimes.

I am not sure I would put Vail on best places to live. Most of the homes are vacant most of the year. There's one grocery store. Shoulder seasons suck.

I take all these lists with a grain of salt.

I lived in Highlands Ranch for awhile and almost every night you'd see a posting or two on Next Door that a car was broken into or a package was stolen off a porch. Douglas County went so far as to put one of those electronic message boards in the middle of Highlands Ranch Pkwy warning folks to lock their cars. You don't see Highlands Ranch show up on this list, but maybe it should.

This is a joke. I am out all the time at night and as a openly gay male never have a issue. Also another list has Pueblo as one of the best cities to move too. All the lists are too subjective.

Yes, it is an association - more work would have to be done to attribute cause or not.
