Seen Salida and no thanks. Haven't been to Buena Vista though. Lived in Leadville for a year.

Ok so I live in the Midwest and am a snowboard and ski instructor at Tyrol Basin... I am certified and me and a few of my buddies that I snowboard with want to move out west and try and live in one of the mountain towns. One of my buddies will be going to Colorado Mountain College and I want to get a job somewhere in the town and my other two buddies that would come out there with us would need to find jobs as well... I have experience in very fancy restaurants and also have my bar-tending license and have worked in a bar in downtown Madison Wisconsin since I was 18.. So the question I have is, how easy will it be for me to find a job and a place to live for 4 people with rent ranging from 300-400 dollars a month for each person...

If everyone wants their own bedroom you are probably looking at closer to $500 a month, maybe more.

The best time to land jobs and housing was 2 months ago. All of the best jobs and housing are probably gone by now. Keep in mind too ski season moves fast. Christmas is the big busy time and then once past that you've got 3 months of solid business before business drops off like a rock and ski season ends in April. Then you've got 2 months of dead space you'll have to figure out how to make a living in until summer.

Best thing you can do is look in the Summit Daily News for jobs or find businesses/resorts/hotels/restaurant websites online and dig up contact info or job postings.

I have to agree with waneroo, you're a little late in the season, but there are still some jobs out there. Check Vail Resorts for jobs that come with a ski pass: Vail Resorts | Jobs.VailResorts.com You can also check craigslist for jobs and housing craigslist: high rockies classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events
