I stayed in Summit County this weekend. This storm was humongous. 2-3 feet at every mountain with quite a few trails that were basically bottomless. There were a couple times that I sent it off some jumps and buried my tips in chest deep powder. It was snowing hard enough at times that everyone was getting fresh tracks. Pure heaven aside from watching dozens of drivers slide into the ditches.

Wolf Creek leads the nation with 45 inches of snow in the past three days

Breckenridge, Monarch, Loveland and other ski areas blanketed with snow

https://theknow.denverpost.com/2019/...-creek/230572/

"Wolf Creek ski area was the big winner in the massive snowfalls that pounded much of the Colorado high country since late last week, accumulating a three-day total of 45 inches, according to Monday morning’s snow report.

That led the nation for snowfall over the previous 72 hours, according to Onthesnow.com, which compiles and compares snowfall totals from coast to coast.

Breckenridge reported 29 inches in the previous 72 hours and 46 for the previous seven days. Loveland received 40 inches over the past seven days, and Monarch 38.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center is reporting “dangerous” avalanche conditions in nearly every Colorado mountain range, including the Front Range, the areas around Vail and Summit County, Steamboat, Aspen and Gunnison, the Sawatch Range, the San Juans and the Sangre de Cristo Range.

“CAIC forecasters and CDOT maintenance workers are reporting remotely (triggered) large and dangerous avalanches that are breaking wide and cracks that are propagating 500-800 feet,” CAIC said. “Stay clear of avalanche terrain.”"

One heck of a storm is coming up from the Southwest. SW Colorado a foot or more, central Colorado the same. Calling for a foot of snow in Durango and Cortez, to head for the front range tomorrow morning.

Started snowing here in Loveland early this morning and now, at 7:30AM, still snowing. Guess not many young folks, at least where we live, read about this snow, because I'm the only one with my windshield wipers raised up. Really looks like we are going to get more than a couple of inches, like predicted. Oh well, get to try out our new SnowBrum that we got for Christmas.

And, some will say that young folks are smarter than Seniors. My windshield wipers are in the "up" position! LOL

Young people are less experienced than seniors.

Am watching Fox31 right now, it's the only Denver station Mesa County gets. Looks like a mess in the high country, the C-DOT drivers are looking to be plenty busy this weekend. Right now I-70 is closed between Avon and Silverthorne in both directions. Berthoud Pass is closed. Avalanche situation is really high in the NW and north central mountains.

Well, two things...….this is Colorado and it is February. Skiers and ski resorts are absolutely loving it.
