We are sailors and have sailed all over the Caribbean for many years. Now we have purchased a RV (our land yacht) and want to go from Grand Junction to Dallas with the least mountains, not ready for vail pass yet.

You could go west from GJ a modest distance and catch 191 south to 491 til Shiprock then 491 / I-40 or 550 to ABQ then 40 at least to Amarillo and finish it on 287 or I-35. You'll have hills but not mountain passes to my memory.

50 to Pueblo only has one major mountain pass then I-25 south.

Given what you said, don't go south of Montrose.

Be sure the brakes are good, have extra fluid for the rig (and you) and don't get too hot. Pull off safely if you get uppity tailgaters.

Excellent suggestion. I live south of Montrose and I barely drive in a regular car further south, and then only in perfect weather. Usually do it to show visitors the amazing views and drive but would not suggest it as a way to get going with a new vehicle type. It'll still be a great drive, what a fine trip after sailing. Best wishes to OP.
