My youngest son moved to Colorado several years ago and has found a home for sale with acreage in Woodrow.
Just trying to find out what the area is like.
What is the community like... Any major community concerns or issues?

Woodrow is a map dot between Brush and Limon on CO-71. There isn't much there. It's about 20 miles north to Brush, and 50 miles south to Limon with a whole lot of nothing in-between. There might be a school and a post office there. High-speed internet will likely be limited to slow DSL (if that's even available at all).

Never been, but using the term 'community' seems generous, based on what I'm looking at on a map...which is basically a couple houses, a few farms, a church, and a post office. No other amenities.

Is your son used to very rural living? Fort Morgan and Brush are the nearest sizable communities and they're approximately 30 and 20 miles away, respectively.

I've been through there a dozen or so times over the years. When we lived in Texas, we'd come up CO-71 to get to my MIL's house in Brush. Brush has a movie theater, a Dollar General, a small grocery store, a Wendy's, and a Subway.

Closest Wal-Mart is in Fort Morgan. Morgan also has a few more fast-food joints (Sonic, Taco John's, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Arby's, and DQ).

Denver is probably 90 mins away (71 to Last Chance, US-36 to Bennett, I-70 into Denver).

There are few, if any, trees in Woodrow. It's all pretty much open prairie. CO-71 may not be plowed between 7pm and 7am in the winter. That could be an issue, too.

Here's a 20 minute Youtube video that will give you a good idea of what the area around Woodrow looks like. Woodrow itself is at 16:20. Blink and you'll miss it.

Is there a water crisis (shortage) in this area?

Is see it is flat grassland/plains and sparsely populated. Nearest towns are Brush and Ft Morgan.

Is there anything critical to know when considering to move here?

I would venture a guess that there's no surface water there. If you want water it's likely going to have to come from a well. You'll need a septic tank for sewer. Blizzards are probably common in the winter, and tornadoes will be more likely than they are farther west.

Grass fires are not unheard of on the Eastern Plains, and they can move really fast. In 2012 sparks from someone's flat tire caused a grass fire near Last Chance. The fire burned about 45,000 acres and some houses in less than 24 hours.

Concerns might be lack of jobs and a lack of medical care.

I'm wondering how expensive it is to dig a well there; how deep one has to go for water.
