What kind of bread is that??

Here (San Antonio, TX), the cheap cheap store bread is $.69 (white) and $.89 (wheat) and to bump it up to the store brand better bread (whole grain sandwich, larger slices), I pay $1.50.

Just curious.

The good news - Gas is down to 2.59 in some areas here. Yay!

The bad news - I can't afford to eat anymore. (j/k)

Since Hurricane IKE caused me to clean out all my refrigerated food, I've decided to keep things to a bare minimum.
I should be able to fit into that bikini by next summer. LOL

You would think that we would learn not to put anything into the
freezer past a few days worth of food when June rolls around here
near the Gulf....I haven't after all these years...guess I never will

Well it takes 3.7843 liters of milk to make a pound, so let's say $4.54. ??
Liter of gas is .26417 gallons, so $6.81??

Now if you're talking about British Pounds, I'm a bit lost as how to convert that.

Wiki says that 1 US dollar = 0.568569479 BP. So,

I believe the milk would cost $2.58 on our dime and the petro would cost $3.87. Wow, your increased pound or Sterling (if that's the case) value seems to have brought things in line with us, for I saw unleaded at $3.89 or $3.87 this morning.

You know, I had a hard time finding a bread to use in this. This was store brand, simi thick slices of white flour bread. I was looking for Wonder or something and couldn't find it at the time. I saw bread for as cheap as 80¢ or 90¢, but I forgot about it. I actually like the multigrain breads that cost a few bucks, but I was looking for something more standard.

I do know that groceries in Colorado are pricey compared to some other places; probably less than most of California.

Me too, so that's why I was wondering. Here I can get bread if I HAVE to, as in sustenance only, for $.69, but I like to make every bit count if possible (nutrition wise) so I go for the multi-grain.

As for the rest (and a few extra):

Gas: I paid $2.77 today for regular unleaded
Milk: I think it's around $4 a gallon? I'm not sure. I tend to buy 1/2 gallons as my kids always let a gallon go bad and I know a 1/2 gallon is pricier.
Steak: no real clue but I did see Tbone this week marked down from $9 a pound to $4!
Boneless / skinless chicken breasts: $3.50 a pound or thereabouts but often o sale for less
Pound of lunch meat (ham): $3.50
Pound of hamburger: $2.50 (unless you eat the "skillet mix" but I question what the heck is in that!)
Head of green leaf lettuce: $1.25
Seedless Grapes: $1.00 / lb
