Any thoughts on Delta? The hospital/clinic, cost of living, grocery stores, remoteness, friendliness quotient, churches, houses for rent, land prices for horses, Western Colorado University?

Wow -- I've lived in Montrose for 1 1/2 years, and didn't even know Delta had a hospital! I imagine that's because everyone I've met on the Western Slope only talk about the hospitals in Grand Junction, Montrose, or Durango -- all of which seem to have a good reputation.

Western State College is located in Gunnison, which is a bit of a drive from Delta. Mesa State College has its main campus in GJ, with a smaller campus in Montrose. I'm not familiar with a Western Colorado University.

Cost of living in Delta is still reasonable, but it's being "discovered" as is Montrose, so I would expect prices to start going up dramatically soon. We've found all of the Western Slope areas to be extremely friendly.

Sorry, but I don't know much about the rental market and land prices. You might want to check the classifieds for Grand Junction:

and for Montrose:

Delta doesn't have a daily paper, but here's a link to their paper:
