Hey everyone- My husband and I are thinking of moving to Crested Butte and I have a couple of questions for any locals.
1-Are there a lot of personal trainers there? Is there a need for personal trainers given how active everyone is? If you were interested in personal training what would you pay per session? In your home or another location so you weren't paying gym membership fees just session fees.
2- Does anyone have their own insurance(not through employer)? If so roughly what are monthly payments and do yo have any recommendations on good insurance carriers in CO?

Thanks for you time!!

I have a friend who is a personal trainer and did do quite well for a while but all the rich folks that can afford all that have all cut back. Also personal trainers are dime a dozen in ski resorts and most people along with with real estate agent on their business card also have personal trainer listed as well. Seriously.

The only way to make it is to find a few wealthy clients somehow, but you'll have to fight off long standing competition, if you can even find it. There was one guy I knew of that was retained full time as a personal trainer for one very wealthy well known woman in Aspen, but he was doing a lot more than personal training for her if you know what I mean.

In regards to people being active in the mountains, people up there are not into pounding away in the gym. When you have the mountains to ski on all winter and bike trails and kayaking all summer what do you need a gym for?

Default Possible relo to Crested Butte

My husband and I are considering a move to Crested Butte. We love to hike, ski and bike, and he lived there for a year in the 80's and loved the fantastic views. We don't have kids and can work from home, so schools and drive to work are not concerns. Any opinions where to buy a home? What time of year offers the best home prices? Our first choice would be to live downtown, or possibly on the mountain, but we're wondering if there are mostly vacation owners on the mountain making the mountain desolate in the summer? We'd also consider CB South, but we're wondering if there is ski bus service to that area and bike trail access to town. Although we're very used to cold and snow, we'd rather take the bus to ski rather than drive in. Any opinions welcome. Thank you!
