we are family with elementary age kids. We are trying to decide between Monument, Falcon, or Castle Rock area to buy a home. We like the recreation facility and school being right in the homes in Meridan Ranch area, like the rankings of the schools in Monument and the views. The area we are looking to build is close to the railroad tracks not sure about that. Castle Rock we have family that live there and like it but not sure about the Commute daily for my husband from Fort Carson (government contract). If anyone can give me ideas on the areas what they like and don't like. I want youth sports especially ice hockey gymnastic, and dance close and kinda small town feel near all the shopping.

Thank you
Tammy Barber

If your man has to commute daily to Ft. Carson, then choose Falcon, or, better yet, Fountain. You can find a decent home in just about any area, but you can't shorten your commute once you've settled.

As for the RR tracks, I live about 2.10 of a mile from the tracks and I can say that the noise is virtually a non-issue for me. Of course, if having to wait for an occasional train to pass would lengthen and already long commute, that would be more of an issue.

Also... why build a new home when you can benefit nearly everyone by buying an exisiting one?

I live in Meridian Ranch. My DH commutes to Peterson AFB, about 16 miles or 20 minutes away. There is not much shopping, or restaurants out here in Falcon, although there is a couple of small shopping centers (Wal Mart, Safeway, etc.) The rec center in Meridian Ranch offers youth sports, there is a dance school, a gymnastics school, and a place that teaches karate out here. It is a nice place to live and Co. Springs is not that far away for any other shopping you might want. If your hubby is commuting to Ft. Carson, out of the three places you've listed, I'd go with Falcon. But Fountain is much closer and probably has everything you need, as well.
