Thinking About Moving To Colorado. Me and my wife both are dealers. We Both know Craps, Roulette, Black Jack, Poker But prefer not to deal Poker. Also know other casino games. Just looking for some suggestions on best places to live and get jobs. Oh ya also have small Business Kevs Karaoke & DJ. Is there places to do this in the suggested areas. Thanks in advance Kevin

IIRC gambling is only allowed in 3 towns in COLO: Cripple Creek, Black Hawk and Central City. But I do know of at least one Indian casino down in the area of Ignacio, COLO, in the far southwest corner of the state, and possibly a second one there.

Recently, state law changed to allow 24-hour gambling with higher stakes, and I know a spate of hiring ensued. Not sure if COLO casino's are still hiring. Until such time as a currently employed local casino worker might post something highly accurate, my suggestion for you is to google the topic to find the list of COLO casinos and work those sites for job info.

DJ's probably have much the same business prospects here that they would in most parts of the country. Hopefully others on this board will have more info.

I've been to Black Hawk recently. They are still looking for dealers and the experienced dealers are far and few between, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a job. Most of the dealers I've chatted with live in the Denver area, which is a 30-40 minute commute from the west side of town, longer from the east. Many take a bus or car pool.

I work in Cripple Creek and most casinos are hiring experienced dealers. I know we just hired a guy today.

If you want to live in a smaller town, Cripple Creek is a ~25 mile drive one way from Woodland Park (7,000 people). WP is 16 miles up the mountain from Colorado Springs. Most of our dealers live in Colorado Springs and take the bus up to Cripple Creek. It's only $7 for a round trip ticket (if you work at our casinos), which will take you about a hour from the 8th street depot.

PM me if you want me to send you contact information for our Director of Table Games. In fact, he came from MotorCity in Detroit.

The other option is Black Hawk, which is by far the largest gambling town in Colorado (Central City and Black Hawk are a few miles apart), with over 80% of the revenue. You still have a good drive from BH to a Denver suburb (Arvada, Golden most likely). If you want the Denver area, you will want to work in BH. BH has more of a Vegas feel, as Cripple Creek is older and has a historical feel.
