I'm thinking of buying one but have never been on a trike (or a bike for that matter) before so am clueless about where to ride the thing.

The riverwalk would be nice but I'm a bit concerned about the width of the trike taking up too much space on the trail.

Would love to find a laid back group of trikers or get some advice on good routes to ride.

Yes, this is old... but I am bringing it back from the dead for those who are interested...

I own a Catrike Expedition. I rode the Columbia Riverwalk often - no problems. It is wide enough, but currently closed for storm damage. The Cayce/West Columbia Riverwalk is another good alternative. As are Dreher Island and Saluda Shoals and the Harbison trails.

Currently the only place that is popular for walking that I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND riding a trike on is Lake Murray Dam. The path is designated for walkers (I remember seeing a sign at one time stating that bikes are not permitted.) Even if they are permitted, the path is too crowded and narrow for using a trike comfortably. The roadway has a bike lane, but it is narrow and I would not trust the drivers.
