Win or lose, what an elegant, colorful skyline. Lush green trees, a Catholic cathedral's steeple, and high-rise office buildings clustered in the middle, flanked by mid-rise buildings strewn across the screen should peak some interest in the capital city, much more so than the same 'ole-same 'ole capitol dome they show over and over again during USC football games. When a player hits a pop-up or home run, the camera hangs with the ball and really brings out the city from home plate. Tune in tomorrow afternoon at 4 on Fox Sports South.

I've seen it in person. It's great. But I like to keep a close eye on how people who have never been here see the city on TV.

I took my daughter to the game on Saturday and we had a blast (though the humidity had her cranky & tired near the end). That's my first visit to the new stadium and I couldn't get over how amazing it turned out. Very nice!

I did watch the game Friday night but didn't think to observe the background scenery.

But this is about Columbia's skyline, not Charlotte's.

Our Clemson brethren won't be here to see it this year.

U-Conn 14, Clemson 1
The Tigers are done.

Imagine how nice that would look on the TV being viewed by the entire nation during an NCAA tournament game..

How nice it would look? It will be on ESPN2. Is that nationwide TV or just super regional TV?

I haven't been to Columbia in several years, but I think Columbia proper is generally a picturesque town...neat skyline (esp. for a city its size), cool capital building, lots of lush, green parks and tree-shaded neighborhoods. Yet it gets slapped with the label of being "ugly" a lot, both here on this forum and elsewhere. Maybe it's because of the suburban sprawl, which in my mind is no worse in Cola than other similar-sized towns I've been to, e.g., Greenville or Charleston. Or maybe it's because the #1 media draw in the city, Williams-Brice Stadium, is located in a not-so-scenic area of town.

Regardless, I, too, look forward to seeing the Columbia skyline on TV this weekend as the Gamecocks whip up on UConn!
