I saw segment on CBS news this morning about Chattanooga TN, about the work their city government has done to provide gigabit Internet speed to the entire city, 600 sq. miles. They attribute many new companies and over 6000 new jobs to this one thing – high-speed Internet.

I find it interesting to ponder the possibilities of something like this in Columbus.

Definitely would be interesting. Columbus already has a good fiber optic system in place. The city does need to focus on new industry recruitment. The current tourist projects are good but we need additional industry. I personally think we should push harder for better interstate access and focus on growing our airport.

I think Columbus is already heading down that direction. The city already have one of the largest Verizon Wireless in Georgia, and also first in the state to achieve LEED certification!
