And especially urban renewal, of all things. Have you been to downtown Savannah in the last year or two? You would gasp, I think.
If you read any posts of mine Savannah is never included. Savannah has been and always will be its own entity. With the exception of Charleston, there is no city on earth like Savannah. So please don't put words in my mouth.

Lets stay on topic.

Why would Columbus need to widen the Chattahoochee for container ships? The Chattahoochee is already big enough for container ships and steam boats. Both had already been going down the river before the dams went up.

@ColumbusKidd92. My posts never mentioned "widened," but rather "developed, dredged and deepened." The Chattahoochee's width is not the problem but the fact that the river is too shallow near Columbus. The whole idea of a Seaport Columbus was far-fetched even before the construction of the dams. But when you're a Columbus booster, as the dignitary was, anything goes.

@Columbus1984. You did state that Columbus can "pull away from other second-tier cities." There are only three other second-tier GA cities (OK, four if we include Athens), and all have ambitious development plans for parts of their old downtowns.

Ok Mason vs. Columbus people - regardless - all these towns need to redevelop their downtowns and do we really care about a pissing match? There's things I wish Columbus would/could do that they don't and their things we can brag about - Same with Augusta, Savannah, Macon.... It's not the intention of this forum to bicker about which is better.

This is simply not true. There are several Savannah has done. The first one that pops up off the top of my head is a large one, Ellis Square. There are other urban infill mixed use developments throughout town as well.

I agree with this. The bickering is counterproductive. In reality, we should all be happy for any good positive growth each city receives since we're all a part of Georgia as a whole.
